How To Play
Colorado Petra Mons Rules
Explanations
Petra Mons: the Rocky Mountain Rock Game
Pieces: the rocks of the game with the point system 1 through 6. (not the base)
Tower stack: The rocks and base that are not part of your quarry.
Quarry: the rocks that are not in play but the ones that are in front of each player.
Religion: refers to the way and origin of how you play, feel free to create your own house rules.
Beginner: the person who goes first.
Each player picks out one of each piece from the bag, each piece has a value 1 through 6.
Each player rolls 1 dice to see who goes first, and the highest roll wins. As a result of a tie the players roll again lower of the next round wins. Continue high to low till a “Beginner” is crowned.
The Beginner gets to pick the base or bases. The Beginner then gets to place them anywhere within reason on the playing surface. With multiple bases they must be no more than 1 ¾ inches away from one another.
As each player rolls 2 dice they can only place rocks on the base and other pieces, only if their dice value matches with the value of the rocks in their quarry.
Each player is allowed to stand and move around the playing surface to place their rocks on the base or on the last player’s pieces,
Each player is also allowed to move the pieces on the tower stack with the pieces the player is attempting to place on the tower stack. You cannot move rocks on the tower with your hands or other body parts.
You can stack multiple pieces at once.
If any pieces fall off the tower stack during your turn, your turn is over and the fallen pieces are now added to your quarry. You must now pass the dice.
You must pass the dice after your turn is over to the person to the left, once the person to the left receives the dice it is their turn.
As the pieces in your quarry get depleted down to 3 or less, you can only roll 1 dice.
If you do not successfully roll the amount matching the dice to the amount in your quarry, you are required to remove 1 piece, (based on religion) you are allowed to double down each turn and roll an additional time, if you fail twice you are required to remove 2 pieces and pass the dice.
If the tower stack happens to fall on your turn, the pieces that fell are now yours and belong in your quarry. On your next turn if you have 10 or more pieces you are allowed to roll 2 dice twice. (depending on religion)
If you are in mid-play and the table or playing surface is bumped and the tower stack is toppled the player and the person who contributed to the topple are required to split the fallen pieces. ( this also includes if it was the person's dog, baby or grandmother).
For one to win the game of Petra Mons, you must have the perfect roll where the dice amount matches the amount of your pieces in your quarry. You must then successfully stack the remaining pieces in your quarry and then stack the two dice on the tower stack. Keep track of each winner for quality bragging rights,
